Just tried Bud's new Budweiser Select beer.
Low carbs and 4.3% alcohol.
Good stuff!
No harsh beer after taste.

I wan't a fan of it. But I'm not a big fan of Bud anyway. It just tastes like it's in between Bud and bud light. For the same price I don't know why I was expecting something better.
But

I tried that Bud Select 'cuz I thought it was going to be a beer that would have more taste than the standard Bud product. IMO, it doesn't. AB may make beers with good taste, can't make a beer with body, why is that?

I'm sticking with Fosters in the 25oz cans. Good taste, goes down real well with Mexican food, and is only $1.76 at the WalMart. $1.99 elsewhere. That's a " buck a bottle". Not bad for a good brew.

Spaten Optimator for me. I'm not huge on beer, but do like it on occasion, mostly with some salty or hot food. I like the dark, malty stuff. I don't care for an overpowering hops flavor at all. I stay away from canned beer.

Hops are OK. BUt too much is not better. Hops needs to fit the style. Some PNW beers are WAY overhopped.....flowery hops are great, too much bittering hops and the beer in ru-int.

Budweiser has always smelled like sweaty gym socks to me.

There's been only one love in my life, and I've carried this affair since the tender age of thirteen. It was my first, and thru the years it has proven to be the best:

PABST BLUE RIBBON!!!!!!!!

So you can have your sissy boy imports and phony micro brew college beers, but guys with an unbridled passion for all things unpretentious and real know only three letters, PBR.

I'll stick to my Canadian pilsner, Labatt's Blue Light. If I wan't something special, I'll tyr to brew it up myself with my micro-brewer. I have managed to make a few decent beers and quite a few more nasty beers. One time I made a beer that was identical to Schlitz.

Sam Adams is overhopped for the style.

In retrospect, my ancestors were fools for leaving England.

Ditto and add Scotland as well.

New Castle is OK but I really like Old Peculiar.

Real English ale is the best. (Mild is my style, followed by a good brown ale)

One the continent:
Vienna lager is the best.(the basis for "mexican beer")
Marzen is the best.

Those who say English "beer" is bad, really don't know.

If you are into trying new beers, might I suggest:

Fat Tire Amber Ale from Colorado and

Bell's Oberon (wheat beer) from Kalamazoo, MI. In MI, they typically serve it with an orange slice.

Yes, Newcastle Brown Ale although haven't tried on tap.

Big Rock Wheat Ale.

OK Springs Old English Porter 8.5% (you feel thoses!)

Sleeman's Honey brown lager

Newcastle Brown is great, but the best I ever had was a local brew in York. Can't remember what it was called.
I like local cider too.
Don't drink much anymore though.

Blue Moon with a slice of orange is pretty darn good too. In college I never cared about what type or brand it was
