Les Rudnick, the man behind Mobil 1's patented tri-synthetic (PAO/POE/AN) formula, has passed away at 79. He was an innovator in the world of lubricant engineering, an enormous wealth of knowledge, and will be missed by many.

May he RIP. The funny thing is I remember when 'Supersyn' replaced 'TriSyn' and people claimed it (the SS) was much better.
I've used both and am happy that TriSyn is now considered a great oil.
