We had two trees when we were growing up. Awesome trees, IMHO

Not sure in your area, but did very well in OC CA.

Let the buyer beware. Trini Lopez explains;

Lemon tree, very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat

Potted citrus trees are pretty much the only way to get them. Even the huge citrus groves use potted citrus. Remember they are grafted on to rootstock, and need to grow for a year or more before they can be planted.

Meyer lemons are good, no question. I have an 'improved meyer' in my yard now but the citrus greening is slowly destroying it. It replaced a Ponderosa lemon tree that I loved. Tasted like any normal lemon, but was huge and had a 1 inch thick, but soft rind. Wonderful.

Wife has 2 Meyer lemon trees in pots in our basement garage. They “ over winter “ in the garage and she moves them outside in late spring. She feeds them in the fall and spring and we normally get 8 to 12 lemons per tree a year.

I have cooked with both the Persian (more common lemon variety) as well as the Meyer variety and I like them both. They are unique and different enough that you can tell when you’re eating something flavoured with them.

I made lemon marmalade from Meyer lemons last year. I used my orange marmalade recipe and added a bit more sugar. It was a kinda tart but also sweet, if you can picture that.

I brought Meyer lemon and a Satsuma orange trees from CA to a family member in IL a few years ago. They only lasted a few years. They succumbed to some kind of mite infestation while overwintering indoors.
