Leg armour for soldiers.

I saw this photo of some IDF soldiers and noticed what I assume is “ bullet proof” leg armour. It’s this correct and does the US army use something equivalent?

Ironic, Menards just put out an email ad for "Foam Fit Thigh Supports"; not bullet proof, though.

I suppose if you're on rocky ground and have to fall to your knees, you'll be happy to have them. But I can't magine running is any fun with those

There were lots of times I wish I had a pair, but they always slipped down when walking or running. Then there's having to carry them and this, a possibility of losing them. Some wore just one on their shooting knee though.
 
Sure. Just kneepads.

I went to an air show once as a USAF base. Saw several military police patrolling the grounds carrying M4s and wearing kneepads. It was almost all paved, so if they had to drop to their knees it could cause some pretty serious injury.
