I am currently in the cleaning phase using M1. Would it be okay to change the filter at 1500 miles and leave the ARX in a little longer to let it clean the engine a bit more? For the rinse phase I will use Castrol GTX per instructions.

Frank, thanks for the reply. I will go ahead and stick with the original plans then. Thanks for a great product.

I am coming from the other direction. I am 600 miles into the cleaning phase with conventional oil in my 95 Maxima. It has less than 60K, mostly highway miles on it, and I believe the engine internals were relatively sludge free to begin with. Could I switch over to the clean phase before 1,500 miles. If so, at what point could this be done without adversely affecting the outcome of the AutoRX cycles?

I would wait it out ..just to assure that you get your full money's worth out of it. If you're just anxious to get moving on (a real problem for some of us that are used to immediate results) ..change the filter and top off the sump. That should give you the interactive gratification that you're looking for.

I hear you. The only reason I'm asking is because after the 1,500 mile cleaning phase my oil will have gone longer than I've run it before as I didn't change the oil first, just the filter. At any rate, even then the OCI will only be 4,600 miles, about 80% plus of which is highway miles.

I am probably being somewhat anal about this but that's the nature of the beast, lol!

I also e-mailed Frank and he suggests following the instructions, ie. 1,500 mile clean phase, 2,000 mile rinse phase.

Auto-Rx will be pretty well used up in cleaning power in 1500 miles.Benefits you might get by leaving it in longer are negligble at best.Think you would be better served to get the Castrol GTX in and get to rinse mode.
