Hi, new to the forum here, sorry if this has been covered before. I just bought a new Grand Cherokee with leather seats. I have never owned leather seats before and my question is when and how often should I clean and condition the seats? I see that Pinnacle Leather products has a good rep, is there anything better? Thanks for any help.

never owned them, hear theyre more of a hassle than a good thing at times (ie. Shorts + 100 degree day = Seat imprints on legs and really hot wake up call)
Alot of people trade them in cause of the hassle, alot get them redone or cover them with a cover.

Pinnacle has very good products, I use their poly-clay kit and polishing compounds with great results, I have never seen the results from the leather cleaner, but if it is anything like the other products of theirs I have used it should be great.
I have used a steam machine to clean my moms leather seats in her #3 edition Monte Carlo, that works really well for getting stubborn dirt and grime off, then I topped it with the Meg's leather conditioner she bought at wal-mart and it worked really well, I like the matte finish it leaves behind.

I use Lexol, there are two types; A gentle, effective cleaner in the orange bottle, and the conditioner in the brown bottle. Both are easy to use and effective. You'd use the cleaner when the seats look dirty, and the conditioner about 2-3 times a year, or whenever the seats seem dry.
Leather is nicer than vinyl, and surely is more durable than cloth..and smells nicer, too!...enjoy them.

Just try not to wear the leather a lot by sliding in and out on the seat, this seems to be more of a problem in used SUV's and trucks with leather because of the height of the vehicle.

When I had 100% leather (now have"suede"), I used Lexol. Clean and contition 2 times a year, right before summer and right before fall. Also do it if the car starts getting a hint of smelling like an old Nike.
I loved my leather. Easy to clean, virtually stain proof, and just felt good. Since I drink coffee in the car, the easy clean up was a necessity.

Leatherique is the best.
Leathermaster soft (and/or) strong cleaner for cleaning and for protection leathermasters protection creame.
For unprotected leather I do use Leatherique but like leathermaster better.
If you put some greasy or cheap leather conditioner on top-coated protected leather seats like the ones in your Grand Cherokee, your asking for trouble later on.

Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner Conditioner is the best I have found. It is available in liquid spray and wipes.

Although I have leather I would prefer something else, cold in winter, hot in summer, eventually cracks and shows wear and can be very difficult to clean if the marks are made by belts or dye from clothing. Dark leather so much easier than a lighter one.
While Leatherique "oil" is the very best in my book, for coated standard-grade auto leathers, Lexol is sufficient.
Leatherique is also unforgiving of poor quality leather and those with defects. I've seen it lift dyes (excessively so) from substandard pieces or coated items where the coating has been compromised. I don't blame the Leatherique, I blame the leather in those instances. It reaches deeply into the hide and lifts things out.
I'd start with the Lexol in a Jeep.

Zaino Z9 and Z10 are the best leather cleaning/protecting products I've ever used! They're also the only two as my wife's G8 is the first vehicle I've ever owned with "leather" seats in it. My wife and I love how the interior looks and smells now. I have a sample of vinyl and leather dressing from Duragloss that I will try next,and then probably Lexol.
I used to get Meguiars detailing kits at Christmas from my parents. They always had a leather cleaner in them,but I never used any of it.

We recently "de-Zainoed" the leather in our SL with Leatherique.
Zaino kept the hides intact and in good shape. But the Leatherique takes it to another level, and smells much more like leather when done. Much more supple and buttery.

I've found the Z10 to look really nice for a day or two,and then you can't tell that you've even put anything on the seats. The seats do feel and smell awesome though. Maybe a different applicator would do better,but I'm kinda down on this product.
