Leaking exhaust manifold

The bung for the EGR tube is directly in the manifold, it will make noise all the time. When they first begin to leak it sounds the same as the stud problem.

99% of the time these tubes break when you try to remove them as they are rotted onto the bung and its rotted into the manifold.
It's in plain sight on the manifold so its easy to check.
Aftermarket manifolds come with the bung but i think you need to order the tube from Ford OEM, i haven't found any aftermarket.


Thanks for your sage advise. greatly appreciated. I'm going to my indie and he's willing to inspect it and tell me what the actual damage will cost me up front.

Wow. I really like Fords (at least the one I had), but this has been a problem for too long. A family member has a 69 360 Ford and he has tried having the header fixed a few times but it always ends up leaking. AND, it has spit out a plug a time or two. Fast forward 32 years and it is still happening to the newer crop of Ford trucks.

A bit disappointing.

I've never heard of an iron-headed Ford doing this. And I've owned a few of 'em. As a family, we've probably owned 100.

However, the exhaust manifold issue is prominent on many trucks, including those from GM and Dodge as well. Just not the same issue necessarily, nor the same range of ages.

This is not an issue on Ford cars with the same engines to anywhere near the same degree. My old Townie with 340,000Km on it still has the stock manifolds.
