I scored a new 2 stroke leaf blower at a yard sale yesterday. Brought it home, opened the box, changed the torch plug out for a ngk and went blowing. Cleaned my porch and sidewalks.

Made all kinds of dust. Decided to check the air filter and there is not one. No place to put one either .

Googled and sure enough no air filter on this one. Guess they dont expect it to run very long.

Homelite? wasn’t that one of the cheap brands?

Is there enough space in that housing to make up something? even a paper towel layer I would think would do something. Maybe an oiled sponge.

a papertowel would be a terrible idea, probably last 20 seconds before chunks of it got sucked into the motor. It'll likely last 10+ years without one.

Ya a cheap one. IMO worth every penny of $25 I paid for it though. Its much more powerfull than our battery puwered one. Not that I can see. There is a spot in the cover that looks it could take a filter. But that would interfier woth the choke.

What model Homelite is it? I've seen them with a tiny foam filter that fits into that plastic cover. In some cases the part isn't even available in the look-up, but you can make one with a piece of foam and soak it in oil. They usually disintegrate and/or people throw them away.

I’m guessing it’s a cost reduction but with a 2 stroke there’s only 3 moving parts. Crank, rod and piston. I bet it lasts longer than you think.

Just my $0.02

Remove the white plastic guard, and you should be able to get an oiled off the shelf filter to fit. It looks suspiciously like a number of air filter housings used on numerous ope.

Oh yeah. see that recessed spot on the bottom picture? I'd bet thats where the filter sits.
