The recommend dose of LC it 1oz per qt. then 1oz every 1000 miles and they recommend an OCI of 10,000. My question is, if i am only planing to run 3000-5000 mile OCIs can I just add the 1oz per quart at the oil change and not add LC every 1000 and still get the benfits or performance that LC advetises. Reason for this is i am trying to use LC as a maintance product but am trying to make the gallon last longer and also it is easier to just add it in at the change and not worry about having to add it in every thousand miles (PITA especially since i add FP every tank too). Plus there is less chance of it thining out the oil since your not using as much. So basically my question is how long will LC last & perform and keep my enigine clean if I only add it at the oil change? Seems like i am always in the garage adding either LC or FP and i am trying to see if i can get the benefits of both products but not have to add them as often. thanks for the help.

Seems like I read somewhere that LC "wears out", for a lack of a better phrase, around 800 miles, give or take. Hence the need to replenish with a maintenance dose of 1oz every 1K miles. Maybe one of the LC guys will chime in and confirm.
If you only wanted to add it once, it might be more beneficial to add it during the last 1000 miles, when the oil is wearing itself out.
If it is an anti oxidant, among other things, wouldn't it be best earlier?

Add the initial dose - then add one ounce at 3K & another ounce at 4K if you're planning to do a 5K OCI.

it is less effort to add a few oz at a 1000 miles then it is to fill your gas tank every 300-400 miles ...pop your hood and ad a couple of oz ...it evaporates and stops functioning
LC is relatively cheap. I don't see how savbing a couple of ounces per OCI is going to save money. Use LC and run the oil it to the max recomended OCI by the automaker.
On top of that you should be popping the hood and check the oil level at each 1k miles at a minimum.. I prefer every 2-3 tanks of gas.. It is not a strenuos complex process to pour 1 oz of lc in per thousand miles. The oil level needs to be monitored.
A tank of gas is running upwards of 30-60 bucks to most people.. Adding a few OZ of FP doesn't seem to be that big of a deal at each fillup when you consider the cost of the fuel.
Why spend the money on this product if you aren't going to utilize it?
When you get sick and need antibiotics do yu take them all until they are gone or wait till you feel better and save the rest for the next time you ar sick..Next week

True. The benefits as I see them is that it keeps the engine in better condition regardless of the intervals. Lower oxidation and insolubles is always better.
Thanks for the replys. I didn't mean for it to come out that way and make it sound like i am just being lazy. i was just wondering if anyone has played around with different intervals of LC and still maintained its performance which in turn could maybe make the bottle last alittle longer.
If I'm doing the math properly, an engine that requires 4 quarts of oil would use 13 oz over a 10K interval.
If a gallon costs $33.50 that should last almost 10 changes or 100,000 miles at $3.40 per oil change.
Over that same 100,000 miles if my car averaged 32 mpg , I'd buy 3125 gallons at a cost of $2.80 / gallon for a total of $8750.00
If I improved fuel economy by just 1/2 of a percent I'd save $43.75 over 100K.
I think that I'd save more than 1%, perhaps 4%, and I'd have a better chance of the engine lasting a long time.

Don't be so cheap and lazy! If you have no intentions of extending your OCIs, why both even buying the LC20?
Your answer implies that the ONLY benefit of LC20 is extended OCI's. I think that is wrong, although it is a major benefit. I've read posts from people who use LC20, with synthetic oil even, and still change their oil at 3K. While that sounds like overkill to me, I use LC20 on a brand new vehicle, with conventional oil, and will probably change every 6 months or 5K miles. In my case, the 6 months will generally come first.
