Latest bonehead idea: spray sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere!

They launched the particles from Mexico. I assume Mexico has laxer environmental laws. The whole thing sounds like a scam to me. I'm not paying them $10.

If its true they are releasing sulfur dioxide and other aerosols into the atmosphere which leads to waterway and forest destroying acid rain and ozone layer depletion then this is an act of climate terrorism and these people should be under the jail.

I want the climate to change and keep changing like it has been doing for over 4 BILLION years and humans as we know them have only been here a fraction of that, but now with social media everyone is into change for a profit making adventure OR leader of a cult.

If we sort to and stopped climate change we would be altering nature. Like hello? think about that!

Earth will always survive, it (earth) will decide how many people populate it. People who want to stop climate change are trying to save themselves, not Mother Earth. But most of all, entire industries have you fooled into buying their products to make you feel like you are doing something good. No different than a cult which is super easy with social media.
Think for yourselves man.

"Particulate pollution and other aerosols help create clouds and reflect sunlight away from the earth, causing cooling, Murakami said. The decline in particulate pollution due to pollution control measures may increase the warming of the ocean by allowing more sunlight to be absorbed by the ocean.

Diminishing manmade aerosols is one of the reasons for the active tropical cyclones in the North Atlantic over the last 40 years, Murakami said. However, toward the end of this century, tropical cyclones in the North Atlantic are projected to decrease due to the “calming” effect of greenhouse gases."

The concept has merit. Needs thorough research though.
I agree. More research is needed.

Particulate in the upper atmosphere reflects sunlight which has a cooling effect. There is anecdotal evidence of cooling after major volcanic eruptions. In one case there were massive crop failures in much of the world because the summer sun provided no heat. Red sunsets were recorded in Britain by landscape artists.

Agreed. We learned about the ice age ,pangea etc in 4 the grade. Seems some people were absent that year

Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, and the Canadian prairies had two cool rainy summers following that, in '92 and '93. At the time, meteorologists said the weather was due to Pinatubo.

The authors of the Freakonomics books proposed spraying particulate matter into the upper atmosphere to mitigate the greenhouse effect. They said it would be really cheap compared to trying to limit greenhouse gas emissions. This was perhaps 12 to 15 years ago. It's interesting to see the idea come up again.

Another desperately cold year was 1816, that one believed to be due to an eruption of Mount Tambora.

So spraying particulate in the upper atmosphere would work, but doing so deliberately would be dangerous, and in my opinion a desperation strategy. Just try to explain to a large population why the crops all failed.
