Largest oil filter

I can give you a couple of ideas. I use the pl14459 which fits my 2001 miata. Should also fit your application. If you have enough room a pl24458 will fit which is longer but the same size around as the pl14459. Both of thes are much larger than the recomended filters with the same bypass valve settings. I believe these are the two largest for your application. These are purolator filter but will cross ref. to other manufactures.

While I was researching for a larger filter for the Fram/SuperTech #3593a I found that the Proline / Purolator L24458 would be a larger size, but I couldn't find it. I wound up finding the L20073 instead which is much larger, but so is the gasket. It may work for your car.

I have a 90 626 2.2 liter I-4 and a 2003 Protege 2.0 liter I-4. Essentially the same engine as yours. Can use (sorry about the cross reference) fram PH2849A matches. Using Wix 51347, now with red ADBV and T03 Semi Synthetic media, about 200 sq in media. Gasket is about as large as reasonable at 2.75 in O.D. Relief = 10 psi. Case is 3 in dia and 5 in long. Also, Wix 51334 and +1 length 51344. Tried M1-207, but 2.85 gasket HUNG OVER. Didn't leak, but scary.
