Who has used 30wt oil in a discovery and had good luck? I was thinking an HDEO or high mileage Synthetic Amsoil ACD, Mobil 1 High mileage, Rotella T5 etc. My main concern is flat tappet protection and being able to run one oil in all my rigs. The rover has 142k on it and has a Crower RV cam installed.
Thanks

IS that the ancient little early 60's buick 215 Alum V8? If oil temps are in check and hot low rpm pressure OK I would think any decent ACEA A3/B3B4 syn should do fine. Nothing will stop the cam wear - most teardowns and rebuilds I performed in the last century typically wore out a lobe or three in 80K with the high zdp SE/SF in the 70's.

It is the 215. For my version rover added cross bolted mains and fuel injection. Do the lobes suffer from High spring pressures or oiling issues?
