The first was built by Honda for a commercial with permission. But they paved it over when neighbors complained about the noise, especially people doing it multiple times at odd hours trying to hear the William Tell Overture.

They rebuilt the grooves in another part of the city away from residential areas, but didn’t fix the tune.

That article mentions a similar road in nearby Palmdale that played the Marine Corps Hymn, where the road is named for R. Lee Ermey. This is a thin strip on the right side of the lane.

There was a similar setup playing When You Wish Upon a Star at Walt Disney World. It was built into a runway, although the airport closed after a few years. The grooves remained until 2008.

That road isn't too far from me. I determined that the cars wheelbase has an effect on the sound. Also you have to go pretty fast 90+ to get the tune right on a longer car.

If driving it in a longer wheelbase car @ normal speeds it just sounds like a garbled mess.

It may sound ok in a smart car,

How much z'it cost to rent a 10-axle lorry for a few miles ? Asking for a friend.

I always wonder how they make it sound right when cars are all different wheel base driven with different speeds. Thanks for answering.
