I noticed that the PP jugs have no foil on the top of the bottle...

Does this affect longevity if the jugs are stored???

All other oils I have used have the foil...

I am concerned about storing PP for the long term...

As long as the cap is screwed on tightly I doubt there would be a problem, after all the only way the oil additive packages "age" is really when they are in service..and as long as the cap is on no moisture will enter the oil causing any oxidation.

Yup. It won't "age" really. Fine on the shelf for a couple years. Just shake it good before you dump it in to make sure the add pack hasn't settled out, and off you go.

Unless you plan on not using the oil for maybe 10 years or so I doubt there will be a problem.

Just make sure the cap is on tightly and the oil is stored in a cool dry place out of direct sunshine...

My guess is the foil is more about preventing accidental spills than oxidation.

The primary reason they seal the bottle, in my honest opinion, is to prevent tampering. If you look around, quite a few members here have several years worth of oil, it won't go bad.

Shell uses lock caps and some use foil. Both accomplish the same thing. Shelf life for oil is between 5-10 years without any issues. Say you open a 5-quart container and only use 4-quarts out of it. Screw the cap back on tight and the remaining quart is good until the bottle is covered in dust and buried under a bunch of junk.

Oil does not oxidize or evaporate in the bottle.

I personally hate oil containers of any size that use foil.

I can't think of any oil or ATF I've used that has had foil. You have nothing to worry about as long as the cap is on tight.

It will be inferior in a few months when the GF-5/SN oils hit the market.

Look under the top of the cap, it has a seal in place, this would seal just as good or better than foil.. I agree foil is for tamp proof as the caps still have the plastic seal

Never thought about shaking it before I used it. But that for stuff that sat for awhile right?

If it's in the new jugs it's already there. Look at the back label.

ahh bringing the thread back from a slow death.. I wanted to add and being my work schedule gives me time to ponder these tings ( a true BITOG'er theologists) if someone will go to the trouble of being scum stealing oil, or tampering with the container it would not be much more trouble to just seal the top back with foil.
