Kyle Busch passed away

Very few are able to successfully transfer from Indycar to NASCAR, and win at both. Tony Stewart was one of the very few who have. 2 different worlds. NASCAR is all slide, slam, and bang.

Where as in Indycar the area around the car cannot touch. If wheel to wheel contact is made, an accident is most always the result. Kyle Larson found that out when he took out Stingray Robb in last years 500. ( I think it was last year). Robb was having what looked to be a good race up until then.

Danica learned this the hard way as well. She did much better in Indycar, managing at least one win. In NASCAR she was a total disaster. A one woman wrecking crew... But saved herself in the financial aspect, because she was at least marketable, being a good looking woman, and made a ton of money.

This in spite of wrecking equipment left and right, without much to show for it except a slew of 20+ place finishes. Perhaps KB could have pulled it off. But we'll never know, and that's the sad part.
Its too bad he didn't get the chance, RIP.
I respect the best NASCAR drivers for their ability to get the most out of a car setup on the larger unrestricted hp ovals. Using the tires up in the fastest way possible for a stint, balancing steering, throttle, and brakes on every corner, is good skill to have for indycar ovals.
I'm not a big fan of the low hp drafting races on the big ovals, but it does give them a ton of experience managing air flow in traffic, which not many other drivers have.

From my local CBS station.

New details from a 911 call indicate that a caller reported a male needing an ambulance at the GM Charlotte Technical Center on Wednesday afternoon. The caller described the individual as having shortness of breath, feeling very hot, believing he was going to pass out and coughing up blood.” The individual also stated that he was lying on the bathroom floor.

Sounds like TB (but how) and hate to speculate. I also read somewhere that meningitis was a possibility. Nonetheless, way too young. RIP

I read Kyle passed out while at the Chevrolet simulator on Wednesday. I wonder how many of us would have called in sick instead. This goes to show that greatness requires not only supreme talent, it requires dedication and commitment that most people don't have.

Didn't Steve Jobs get cancer and continue to run Apple?

My wife read it and said that it sounded a lot like a pulmonary embolism. (Short of breath, burning up, feeling faint, coughing up some blood.)

It’s all speculation at this point, but regardless of the reason, it’s a huge loss for NASCAR and a devastating loss for his family.

There have been a few people that I work with that have battled cancer. They continued to work until the cancer took over. From what I've seen, cancer patients have bad days and good days and to use a boxing analogy, sometimes they win and sometimes there is a rematch and while they go deep in the bout with draws in many rounds and some wins, the cancer eventually wins late in a late round. Quitting their job means the cancer won that round. Work keeps people focused and fighting.

Sometimes denial and stubbornness keeps people from getting the medical care they need sooner. I'm dealing with my father in law in the hospital again. Apparently, he hadn't been urinating for a while until eventually the urine backed up to his kidneys. He didn't say anything because he didn't want to be a bother. It wasn't until he was in septic shock that received medical intervention.

The sinus infection that occurred before all of this is the reason why I initially dismissed the possibility of a PE. But as you said, it’s all speculation. It always hits a little harder when it’s someone young though. I am certainly curious to discover the cause, as is everyone else, I am sure.

Very true but doubtful in this case. He was a pro athlete who needed medical clearance to race every weekend. He also asked for the doctor after the last race. Most likely something mis-diagnosed, something got worse quickly, or something suddenly happened.

I saw the news yesterday almost as soon as it broke. Still can’t believe he’s gone. I’m a big NASCAR fan, I watch weekly and go to at least one race every year. I wasn’t really a Rowdy fan early on in his career, but I grew to really like him and began to root for him after he moved to RCR. He was the best to ever race in the truck series IMO and one of the most influential drivers in NASCAR history. It will not be the same sport without him.

Cancer is different. And there are numerous different cancers.
My mom had metastatic cancer diagnosed two years ago. Breast cancer that spread on the bone, more precisely, spine.
She went through 6mos of two different chemotherapy.
Two months after starting chemo she returned to work.
Today she works 8-10hrs a day and she is 75.
What happened to KB is sudden, immediate event.

Heard about this yesterday, what a blow. Kyle Busch was in my top ten favorite NASCAR drivers along with greats like Mark Martin, Alan Kulwicki, and The King. Loved when he drove for JGR. He is gonna be missed. Prayers for his family for peace and strength in this time of loss.

Busch family released cause of death: Severe pneumonia =sepsis.
One of the biggest reasons that people over the age of 70 should seriously question, and carefully consider getting surgery under general anesthetic. Pneumonia can result in as many as 18% of cases.

A literal case of the cure being worse than the disease.
