KYB Struts

Who has them? How do you like them? I recently (15K miles ago) put 4 Monroe Sensatracs on my 94 Corolla. They are already as spongy as the factory struts that had 85K on them

I've had this happen to a lot of Monroes; they seem to be fairly ****** ! So, I'm thinkin about KYBs as a lot of folks say they're much beefier. The roads in my area............what roads!! Thanks guys.

I have KYB shocks and struts on several vehicles and am very happy with them. The quality seems to be superior to the Monroe or Gabriel lines yet the prices are much lower than the top dollar european brands.

A fine choice IMO.

Well, after doing a bit of research, the KYBs are the same as Gabriels for my application

Looks like Tokico Premiums are the only true aftermarket/premium strut I can get. Any opinions on Tokicos? If they are too stiff...........good! This car has so much body roll that I just about end up in the passenger seat around tight left handers

kyb has worked well for me for the past 20 years in several applications. i tried gabriel briefly in the rear of the frontier, but replaced w/ kyb. there is probably better stuff out there, but kyb is a good bang for the buck, and i don't have the incentive anymore to be running around looking for the 'best'.

Drew99GT does Bilstein make a set for your application? If you call and talk to them they can sometimes sub in a shock that is close enough to your with a firmer valveing etc....

Have Bilstein Struts/KYB shocks on my 86 Shelby Turbo, KYB Struts/KYB shocks on my 89 Shadow ES Turbo, and Tokico Struts/Shocks on my PTGT turbo. all seem about equal to me, but step above the Monroes or Gabriels. Get konis if you want a performance strut/shock.

Have also use MP shocks/struts, gabriel, Monroe in the past.

I have Tokico blue shocks and struts on my 1988 Mustang 5.0, it handles a lot better.

But the shocks and struts they replaced were quite worn out with 160K on them, so just about ANYTHING would've been an improvement.

Is the body roll definately due to faulty struts or do you need to upgrade the sway bars? Whiteline performance here in Oz recommend sway bar and rubber replacement before shock upgrades. Unless of course these are faulty anyway.

I've been using KYB GR2 & Gas-a-just shocks & struts in my Volvos for years. I currently have GR2s on my `93 245. They are a bit more firm than stock, but they never seem too harsh. I plan on installing a set of adjustable KYB AGXs on our VW Golf when the time comes.

Just replaced the 2 rear original struts on my corolla (110k miles) with KYB GR2 and wow, all the body roll is reduced and much smoother ride. I haven't had Monroe before but I heard about the SensaTrac not last as long as the simpler design.

couldn't have said it better myself.

you'll be pleasantly surprised with them for a daily driver.

as the others have said, koni yellows for a really nice (stiff ride) or bilsteins.
