Looking for new tires for a 2002 Tundra 3.4L. This will be an occasional use vehicle so don't want to break the bank on tires. There is no snow to worry about here. Size will be 265/70R16. Coopers are speed rating S, while the Kumho's are H. This makes me want to go with Kumho, plus they are cheaper, but I've never used this brand before.

Anyone have any input? Thanks.

i am familiar with the Kumho brand the OE tires my wife's Nissan came with were junked around 35k.. now the Crugen HT51 i had installed on my F-150 were fantastic. good handling, ride and tread life.. even some 3-5" snow traction was respectable then again i had a rear wheel drive only.

^^^^This right here! I put the Kumho Crugen HT51 tires on my wife's AWD Honda Element around 2020 and was so impressed with their overall quality and characteristics that I put them on my Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier in 2023. The HT51's are clearly a clone of the Michelin Defender LTX M/S and they perform similarly to the worn out set I replaced on the Frontier. The only perceptible difference is that the Kumhos are slightly softer riding at the same inflation pressure compared to the Defender LTX M/S. Both are fantastic tires overall...you can't go wrong with either choice.

I'd also consider the Laufenn tires at WalMart. Laufenn is a division of Hankook. TireRack.com tested the Laufenn HT tire, and it fared quite well.

That Laredo AT has to be the worst looking tread design ever, along with the ugliest sidewall. I'd rather run Chinese tires instead.

Ended up going with Armstrong Tru-Trac HT Highway 265/70R16 112H Light Truck Tires. Got them mounted and out the door at Walmart for under $500.

So far the ride and grip are great. Will see how long they last.
