Kreen as fuel system cleaner

In the sister subform on Oil Additives, there have been a few threads on Kano Kreen lately. Like MMO, Kreen is supposed to be good as both fuel and oil additive, and the instructions on the can call for putting it in both. I just received my order today (3 quarts) and will be trying it in my car this weekend - oil and gas. So I'll have a couple quarts left and was wondering if anybody has any opinion or experience with using Kreen just as a fuel system cleaner.

It really works at getting carbon out.Being a blend of powerful solvents with some lube qualities i imagine its a good fuel system cleaner also.I run 16oz in the tank every 3k.

I use it once and a while as a fuel system cleaner but I have no objective info I can give you. I will say my new 2010 Accord didn't like it in the oil. I was hot to use the stuff because I just got it and I put about 6 oz. in the sump before an oil change. As I was driving to the dealer, the car started shaking needless to say I was scared because if the engine [censored] out they were going to find a bunch of heavy solvent in the engine. Well they did the oil change and the car drove hard for about 20 mins and then just stopped. I cant prove Kreen did it but it won't be going in my oil again. I truly believe I was the one at fault, a brand new engine doesn't need KREEN!

It was probably snorting the fumes,i'm sure it did no harm.
Did you put it in a hot engine?I agree 100% a 2010 anything doesn't need Kreen or anything else.When there are issues with older/high mileage engines then fine but engines in good running order need nothing but quality oil,conventional or synthetic is IMO not as relevant as the correct OCI for the engine.

I doubt adding 6 ounces of anything added to the oil caused the problems you described. If you had added to the fuel I'd say maybe, but not to the oil. I would have had the dealer run some tests and see if there was something mechanical or electrical causing the problem you had. I do agree that a new car doesn't a product like Kreen added to the oil.

Got my Kreen yesterday and added it to the oil and fuel today. Vehicle is an 09 Accord with V6 and 34k miles. Didn't expect to see any noticeable change in performance, and so wasn't surprised. Better yet, no bad side effects like described by chubbs1. I'm planning on running it for another 1000 miles and then doing the OCI. At 34k miles, I'm not looking for any heavy crud or any sludge to be present, but the vehicle sees severe service (90% city driving with most of that 4-mile trips), so I'm just doing a stiff cleaning dose to keep it in shape.

I wouldn't expect anything either,why would you on a 2009 engine in good shape.Let us know how the oil looks as time and miles go by.Preventive maintenance is a good way to avoid problems later,34k would seem like a good mileage to clean anything out like varnish that just maybe starting to accumulate.
