I would like to know if anyone has switched from the Kohler filter (KH-12-050-08) to an automotive filter. Thanks Eric

The AC Delco PF53 replaces one of the Kohler filters. I am not sure which one but I believe there is a pretty big difference between the two Kohler filters I have seen. You should be able to tell by looking at it.

Sorry Reno..I kinda missed answering your question. I have run a Delco PF53 on my Snapper garden tractor with a Kohler engine for about four years with no problems. $3 beats $10 for the Kohler filter any day in my book.

I use a 6607 Stupertech in place of my $10 Tecumseh....works fine.

reno13, you might have luck taking your Kohler filter and part number to a NAPA store and seeing what they have. Their filters are WIX (very good: $3-$6) and I have had good luck with them matching up obscure applications ... like lawn & garden equipment.

Bror, actually what I did was just that. I have a sears kohler command 16hp. went to baldwin site and typed in oem kohler #. that filter gave cross references to other vehicles that the same baldwin filter fit-one was a chrysler, but i do not remember which one. went to napa site and got filter for that chrysler went to napa and bought and i've been running it so far this season with no issues. its a napa gold. went to go check the # on it outside, but it is turned at just the wrong angle. better filter for $6-7 less.
