It's about 3,000 sq ft.

I heard / remember digging out the root is the only truly reliable way. Spray lots of water and let them grow, keep digging for a few days till nothing grow anymore and then plant what you want.

I've found some roots of flowers to be as big as a fist, and could only get rid of them when I dug out the root.

Great, but what ratio of water, vinegar and salt do you use ?
How long does this kill the weeds for ?

1 gallon of water, 16 oz of vinegar, 3 cups of salt and one tablespoon of dish detergent.

Shake well and put in a spray bottle.

Your yard will smell like salad dressing.

Edit: Use warm water when you make the mix and shake the spray bottle from time to time as you apply the mix.

Done properly NOTHING will grow for a whole season were you applied it..

Yeti, the borax solution will kill the weeds and not the grass?

Clovers in July? not a good sign. Weather is out of normal..I suspect wide temp fluctuation between night and day temp. This will cause the weeds to seed which is not normal during the month of July if not in June also.

You got seeding of weeds during the summer months which normally shouldn't be there normally. Infestation I would assume...

This is what I have to do with green briar vines. The roots look like sweet potatoes, some 12" across. I dig them out with a digging shovel. Seminoles used to eat them, along with the young shoots (like asparagus) and the leaves in salad.

I can't tell you how painstaking this kind of work is! They grow up to 3 feet per week, so they're pretty easy to find. Nothing else will kill them, including gas, brush killer, round up, etc.

In some spots, yes. I also overseeded this year; perhaps there was some weed seeds in the grass seed.

I think I'm gonna bit the bullet and go chemical.

Sounds ok.

But give the mix I posted a try before you go chemical.

Urine works well. Just drink lots of beer, then go out at 3AM with a flashlight (to avoid being seen). If that's too hard, do it at noon and be sure to wave.
