Someone I know from the LS1 boards sent me this UOA. Not very good results at all!

The car is a 2000 LS1 with heads/cam and nitrous. The car is still on stock
tune with 26 pound injectors. He also put in an additive called MOA advanced
formula by BG.

It has SRP pistons, I beam rods and clevite bearings. The piston
rings also are gapped wider for the use of nitrous. The motor has been done
for about 10,000 miles and so it is not in a break in period at all. He is running an air filter equivalent to a K&N, and an AC Delco oil filter.

Time to switch to Amsoil 0w-30.

We have seen number almost as bad on stock LS1's with 3000-5000 miles on the oil. The only thing that stands out here is the low milage and lead numbers. You would expect higher numbers with NO2.

If he has swaped out heads, cam and added NO2 then he is driveing this car hard. You do not add these types of mods then drive it gently.

It would be nice to see what this cars numbers would be if driven in a gentel daily driver fashion with no raceing for 3000 miles. THis weigh we could see what his baseline numbers would be.

It is clear that his bottom end is eating it's self up.

Nitros will wear the engine like a blower will, so the higher wear may be from the driving style ,the motor is not as G.M. made it

the oil is fuel diluted? and is not the visc,12.72 around a 30 wt ,which if so would be way to thin for a hot rod engine with nitrous? I would say the wear must be alot of fun. As to the oil well we don't know how the engine was assembled but here is an example of 20w/50 + engine as the oil keeps the berings apart and this engine needs to keep the berings apart.

Kendall is now another brand name owned by ConocoPhillips Corp. Some of the Kendall GT-1 data sheets are identical with 76 and other ConocoPhillips brands and some are still unique, as far as I can find.

I've heard that Kendall used to be very good oil. Now, I guess, it's just another "good" oil. I'd use the Kendall/76 gasoline engine 5w-40 oil if I ran across it in a local store (ACEA A3 & API-SL, not diesel 5W-40).

...OUCH!...OUCH!...OUCH!...wish we could get the "old" Kendall GT-1 back and see how it would have done! The way I understand it, Kendall GT-1 is no longer a specially formulated hihg performance/racing oil...it is merely a name.

Kind of thin for a 40w with only 1600 miles on it.

Is the Kendall formulated the same as Conoco Hydroclear?

I've seen used oil analysis on LS1s with nitrous where the lead count was less than 10ppm in a 3k run though, so nitrous alone won't always result in higher wear.

I believe this oil is 10w30 although I sent him an email to confirm.

One way to be sure.
Have him try to go once without using NOX
then have him not hold the boost as long,
then have him hold the boost the way he has been.

I wonder if this could be from holding the Boost button too long?

IF i'm correct the guy who was Kendall and wheb GT-1 was good sold the name/company (can't remember which) is is now with Pennlube or somebody like that. My good mate Ivan Walker at Walker Racing Engines in Sydney used to swear by GT-1 but not these days.
