I was wondering if a K&N air filter element is good or not. A lot of people seem to state that OEM paper filters filter better, but many also are comfortable with K&N air filters. I am confused about which is really better. Should I go back to OEM if I want longevity from the engine? (I currently have a K&N filter element). What is a good non-OEM paper air filter?

It probably depends on the application. In some apps.......K&N's don't seem to let in anymore dirt than a paper filter. In other apps......K&N's don't look so good. If you choose a K&N, you can do a used oil analysis to make sure the filter is doing OK.
