Just started Auto-RX..already fixed oil leak?

I have a 1996 V6 Ford Contour. The reason I decided to try Auto-RX is that it has an oil leak from somewhere above the oil filter that drips along the filter and then onto the exhaust Y-pipe, making quite a stink. I think it's the head gasket because the leak is from somewhere below the valve cover. It's not from the oil pressure sender.

There is also a leak from the rear mail seal. None of these are bad enough to leave spots on the driveway.

I suspect that this car had probably been neglected--I am not the first owner of it, and when I checked the emissions test records on the Virginia DEQ website, it showed that the vehicle was driven 3000 miles in 2 years and then failed an emissions test with excessive NOx, probably due to the carbon from the short trip driving it likely had been used for during that time.

The most recent emissions test was it's best ever, mainly because I replaced both oxygen sensors and sprayed half a can of B12 Chemtool into the throttle body with the engine running--this cleaned the intake manifold and the combustion chambers and probably the cats too. At 15 and 25MPH the test recorded 2PPM NOx--this was at 98,000 miles. I have NEVER seen a car get this low of a reading on the NOx.

A couple of weeks ago I changed the oil with Mobil Drive Clean 5w30 and the filter with a Motorcraft FL-820S. I added 14 ounces of Auto-RX.

A couple of days later I washed the engine. I sprayed Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner (yes, believe it or not it works very well for cutting grease and oil) onto the front of the engine and hosed it down.

As of yesterday night the Auto-RX has been there for 500 miles and there is NO oil on the end of the filter like there normally would be. I also haven't been smelling the stench of oil burning like I used to. The rear main seal still looks like it's leaking but it think it might not be as bad as it used to be.

I will continue to run the Auto-RX for 1500 miles and then do the rinse cycle and then do the second application as the instructions state. I will be interested to find out if the rear main seal leak goes away. Currently the car has 101,100 miles on it.

I am nearing the end of the final rinse phase on this car (with 107,900 miles--oil to be changed at 108,300 miles--that's a 3000 mile final rinse phase). I drove to Chicago and back (750 miles each way)-- on the trip up there it was a cleaning phase, then got the oil changed, on the way back it was the final rinse phase.

I checked the oil last time I filled it up with gas and there was NO evidence of any oil loss. The oil level was right at the full mark.

I don't think I've *EVER* seen this car go 2500 miles without leaking or using half a quart. Some of that was due to a leaking oil pan gasket, but the oil loss continued after that was fixed (it was leaking from the rear main seal too).

Now it is no longer leaking from the rear main seal.

I did cut the oil filter from the first rinse phase apart, I didn't find anything in it but dirty oil. No chunks of stuff like some people have reported.

I suspect that this engine was cleaned out by the Mobil 1/Rotella Synthetic that I ran in it for about 12,000 miles prior to starting the Auto-RX treatment.

After I get done using up the Mobil Drive Clean 5W30 and the Havoline 5W30, I'll probably switch to Motorcraft 5W30, assuming that I get lucky and Wal-Mart has enough in stock for an oil change, or maybe I get really lucky and they actually have some full cases of it...
