I just finished cleaning and restoring my headlights to crystal clear. They had oxidized from the sun and turned yellow. I used Mequires Ultimate Compound and elbow grease. Worked like a charm. I've waxed the headlights but I'd really like to put a good UV protectant on them. What would you guys recommend?

Where'd you buy the elbow grease? Is it synthetic?

Glad to know that this worked, I was just looking at my bottle of ultimate compound and wondering if it would work on headlights.

Something else that I found last night that seems to work (sorry if this is old knowledge) Is "Penetrol" Replaced the bulbs in my Cutlass last evening, and noticed that while the lenses are far from "foggy" they were a bit clouded. Wiped some Penetrol over them a few times, and they are much clearer:) Not sure how long it will last, but it was one of these "its almost time to go to work, and what do I have in the garage to use" situations.

I would recommend Plast-X which you can find at any auto parts stores or WalMart.

I used Plast-X with great results on our cars, 15 minutes per side will do wonders.

Anything with an abrasive in it will work. Obviously, the more hazed over your lenses, the more course of an abrasive you'll need. I just used Turtle Wax rubbing compound (red can) on mine. Worked great!

I use Plexus on my headlight and brake light lenses to maintain them.

To clean the yellow, foggy headlights on our Honda, I used a 4" wool pad chucked into an electric drill. I used Plast-X on one lens and a combo of Meg's Speed Glaze and Swirl Remover on the other. The end result was similar, if not identical.

wonder how much better the result would have been if you did some wet sanding before you applied the Ultimate compound...
