Just got LC and FP

I thought I would report back on my bypass filter. I drove home today which is a little over 36 miles. As soon as I got the car in the garage I got out and checked the by-pass filter and it was warm from top to bottom. A little warmer at the top almost hot.

I feel better now, I guess the bypass is not as big of a player as I would have thought on the around town driving.

TheTanSedan, thanks for your reply. I too have added LC to the PS and ATF though I had reservations about adding it to the ATF since I run Amsoil synthetic ATF there, but I thought if it helped cleaned things out then it would be worth while in the long run, and adding longer life to the transmission fluid is a bonus if that holds up.

I havent notice any improved shifting with the addition of the LC but in all fairness I run a shift controller on the transmission too which boosts the fluid pressure to make the shifts a bit more snappy and less dragged out like it was when I got it, so I think if there were any improvement the firmness of the shifts already may mask any difference.

As I mentioned if LC reduces the oxidation and nitration numbers and keeps viscosity in check on the Amsoil 0W30 then I will consider it a success. If it does any more than that like help clean out the internals, well thats just a bonus. If it accomplishes the two things I seek of it I will buy more. Im already planning on buying more FP. Even if it does not increase mileage I would still use it because of how responsive it makes the motor and the peppiness it has.

I do used oil analysis about every 8000 miles or so, so if LC is going to make a difference I should see it shortly, Im probably 4k miles from my next UOA and I drive roughly 500 miles per week if not more.

As to the software I use for maintenance and fuel tracking its called Auto Maintenance Pro and can be found at the below link:

http://www.mtcpro.com/automtc.htm

Its $50 but its by far the most comprehensive package I have found and in my opinion worth every penny. My hope is that if I should ever part with the car (and right now I love my ride too much to consider it) that I can hand over a very well documented maintenance history to the next owner and perhaps ease their mind a little.

Im not an additive person by even the wildest stretch of the imagination and I love Amsoil and will probably never use anything but. However, I try to keep an open mind about things as much as I can and after reading all I have on BITOG about LC and FP I felt I needed to at least give it a shot. At the worst, it does not work and I change out my fluids and start over. At best, its the perfect compliment to Amsoil synthetics and my fuel system and I have come to possess a product that will help me keep my ride around even that much longer.

From Big D to the home of PHILLIPS 66: thanks for the link. Software looks great. I'd buy a vehicle from you in a heartbeat.

I'm hoping that more of us will use such tools, and,

as a suggestion for a future forum, moderators,

that we have a place to compare and crunch numbers, not unlike the used oil analysis forum.

Friend, I hope you'll consider my experience. I've been using FP and LC for over 50k in one vehicle and am highly pleased.

I use the LC annually for a hot cylinder soak at spark plug change time (adding a bit more to the crankcase) for an overnight "clean the h*** out of it". Then, a fresh change to dino (plus new plugs, air filter, and any other cleaning/replacements) and then the annual ARX treatment. Then back to the REDLINE.

I recently bought a Dodge Ram V8-318 with 86k on it. Have done absolutely nothing to it except change oil filter to BALDWIN B2-HPG and a higher than usual use of LC and FP. After 6k miles it runs smooth as butter. There is less buildup on oil filler cap, and I am looking forward to pulling the sparkplugs. (I have used direct drive -- third -- exclusively under 50 mph and have engaged in as much compression braking as is reasonable given traffic.) LC went also in power steering fluid and ATF (shifts hang a little less, more service is needed). Future service will include ARX treatments for all three.

However much you now enjoy LC/FP you will continue to see incremental changes that will please you.

I too keep records of all fuel/service (is your PC based system available somewhere?), and LC and FP and ARX pay me to use them.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I learned early thanks to the military the value of preventative maintenance, so I tend to track it pretty closely. I learned about oil analysis through Amsoil which added a whole new tool and dimension to preventative maintenance. I like to drive my car hard at times so I consider it particularly important to make sure I got a ride that will get me to work but also provide a lot of fun on occasion.

I like your suggestion as well, it would be a nice section to have here.
