Well, just because something is popular doesn't automatically make it right, or sensible.

When I'm driving in town, I'm paying attention to the traffic and the looneys creating it, not to whether my drink stays upright. About the only thing I ever eat or drink in my car is water and chewy granola bars (no crumbs), and then *only* on open-road driving like yours.

Lack of cupholders would be a strange thing to hold against a car.

I had a Malibu with the same engine. Black. Not an ugly car.

I will not say the car was underpowered. I could easily light the tires up at a stop sign. I will say it's the usual GM engine/tranny mismatch. Strange shift points. Now compared to the Honda 3.5L, the engine is low on power. I did notice in the manual the car can be had with a 3.9L - how is this engine?

BTW I like the car with 8 days of driving in 80-100°F weather. It did have cup holders in the rear! Used one tank of gas, and although I didn't calculate MPG - we drove a LOT. AC worked fine, but fan was noisy - I mean VW loud on high.

Would I buy one? If it was low priced enough, maybe.

I hate to say this - but fit and finish were excellent.
