Better you than me. Personally, I've never understood why anyone would want to eat such excrement.

For breakfast this morning after my run it was a bowl of McCann's Steel Cut oats, a scrambled egg and a glass of orange juice (fresh squeezed). Lunch was a garden salad with a very light homemade vinaigrette dressing. For dinner I made salmon cakes (wild caught salmon), roasted vegetables, homemade flat bread with raspberry jam (from our raspberries last summer) and a glass of water.

I also had an apple mid-morning and a banana mid-afternoon. My wife and I went dancing this evening, and when we returned home we each had a glass of wine. I also consumed several glasses of water throughout the day.

All told about 2000 calories for the day, and my entire daily food intake cost less than the original poster's Long John Silvers single meal garbage. And I'm willing to bet it tasted far better and was vastly more healthy. At no time did I ever feel "uncomfortable" after my meals like the original poster did.

Anything else you'd like to know?

not too shabby, my NP would give you a gold star. I don't have patience for simmering the steel cut oats. I use regular rolled oats. Lately, I've been nuking a stiff mix in cider instead of water. OJ or pineapple works too , if you want to walk on the wild side. Bon apetite!

I made a decision early in life to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including my eating habits. Seeing family members who were obese and unhealthy was the major contributing factor-several of them died young, and all of them who don't follow reasonable eating guidelines are unhealthy (diabetes, heart issues, high blood pressure, mental health issues, etc.).

It disgusts me when people who should know better brag about things like cramming down a mess of unhealthy faux food. Those same people have a myriad of health issues, and seem to parade their health issues around like a bizarre badge of honor, all the time wondering how they became so unhealthy.

To top it off, those of us who do maintain a healthy lifestyle end up paying for those who don't through higher insurance rates and increased medical costs for health issues that, in most cases, are completely avoidable.

Read a few of the original posters threads and it's clear he's not at all healthy (smoker, eating habits, tinnitus, etc.). Yet he posts here about shoveling a mass of unhealthy food into his mouth, to the point that he's almost physically ill, and then can't understand why he has so many physical maladies and, in his tinnitus thread, suicidal thoughts and mental problems.

Don't be such a Debbie Downer. Look at the bright side. If he pops off: Hey! More bacon for the rest of us!

+1 You better toss a few Bud Lights on top of that mess just for good measure.

He said "beer".

You can make several days worth of steel-cut oats at once and it'll keep very nicely in the fridge. Once or twice a week, after putting the lids to bed, I'll get 4c of water going in a cast iron pot w/ 1/4t salt, toss in 1c of oats, let 'er come back to a boil, kill the heat and cover it up for a few hours, even overnight!
