Just bought a compressor--have a few questions...

Lee,

First of all, you live in San Diego and you never stated in your original post regarding any specs from the manual. My recommendation was based on average temps, with a compressor sitting in a hot garage. My compressor works in the cold most of the time so I use PCI.

Now if the manf. does indeed state that an SAE 20 weight or ISO 46 be used, then by all means, PCI is your bag.

The "sump" is the crankcase that holds the oil. Your compressor is an engine without combustion and has to have a tank to hold the oil. The volume that holds oil in any engine is termed the crankcase or "sump."

Find a good lightweight pneumatic tool oil and put a few drops into the tools before use. The Amsoil PCH and the Redline Air Tool Oil are two good products for this application, and both are sponsors.

I have found that the normal paper air filters work are just fine. Unless you're painting, forget the inline filter.

Molakule--

Thanks for clarifying that.

Whenever I post to any board, I try to include all relevant facts. I should've put the manufacturer's recommendation in my original post, but I just haven't been too swift of late.
