Needs a paint job

The oil hasn't been changed in 2 years and has daily driven up until 3 months ago.

First thing Im doing it changing the plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, pcv valve, and changing the oil and filter. I would like recommendations on the oil and filter I plan on doing 3k oil changes to clean things up. Also I dont know how much oil it takes, its a 2.5l v6 non supercharged. thank

Ouch DD for 2 years with out an oil change.... what the heck are people thinking when they do that...

You can not buy anything down here the runs for 700 bucks unless it is big time sludge monster with a broken a/c and a million other things wrong..Once it painted it will look real good.

Did you sell the P-71 for that?

Don't get me wrong, you got a steal, but I would change those fluids out ASAP.

Oil capacity is 4.5 quarts, I would use NGK plugs and wires. Mine had a intermittent miss until I changed back to OEM wires. It is also recommended to use premium fuel. I run 93 in my Mazdas and I do notice a slight improvement in power but it is slight. Lastly it will probably have carbon built up right behind the intake from the EGR recirc. I use Mopar Combustion Chamber aerosol cleaner with very good success.

Just look at the paint, it never had been waxed. The car is neglected for all its life that why it is sold for $700. I would change all fluids, all filters, plugs ...

After spending several hundreds in parts and hours to install/replace those parts the car will be good/reliable for several years.

Good find.

No but I am going to sand it down and prep the car, then I will take it to a shop and let them spray it.

I was going to put redline fuel injector cleaner in the gas. Maybe a quart MMO during the oil change.

Hey GREAT car!

I like those.

FYI, the miller cycle is the turbo engine I believe. The V6 in your car shares its engine with the 626, if Im not mistaken.

They're nice stylish cars.

Honestly, it MAY need paint, but I'd try a rotary buffer and an aggressive compound on that hood first! It wouldn't hurt.

The Miller Cycle motor was a 2.3L nightmare of an engine. Very fussy.
If you have the 2.3L its the Miller Cycle.

Heres what I do with new "used" vehicles:
Radiator flush. Drain it, flush with a hose. Fill up with water, drive, and flush again. Then fill with full strength coolant.
Air filter.
Fuel filter.
PCV change.

Everyones favorite....OIL CHANGE!
I'd fill it with 1 full quart of Marvel Mystery Oil, and the rest any kind of oil. Cheap Syn, or conventional.
Get a good high quality oil filter. Pureone, Mobil 1, Bosch Distance Plus, Wix, etc...
Run it strong for 3000 miles. Drain and do it one more time.

Change those spark plugs too, if you can reach them.

Full tank, with Techron as well. Maybe add a little Marvels to the gas as well.

Big interior detailing, and do the best you can for the outside.
Your paint is shot. Don't even attempt to polish the top surfaces. There is no clear coat to polish.

If you want to do a drain and fill on the Transmission, go ahead with that too.

Enjoy!

From the pic looking down the oil fill im betting is a good ol klde mazda. Same engine that is in my probe. I wouldnt worry a bit about the neglect the engine has seen, there tough tough engines, a little preventive matience and you should be set. when i bought my probe it had 60k on it, and the oil change sticker said it was due at 49k. quick lube filter was still there.

You cannot tell by the pictures if it is actually missing clear coat, it could just be severely oxidized...

Although you are right to assume it is missing clear coat by the pictures, you cant be 100% sure it is until you see it first hand, I have seen cars that look like that on picture and still have the clear coat there.

Over the time I would change all the fluids:don't forget PS and Brake fluid. As to oil: use cheapest oil(good brand on sale) for 3 changes with MMO, LM oil flush before drain, then order some Kreen and use it for 2 OCIs and piston soak. Then any oil you like and top offs with MMO if needed.Continue LM flush ones a year. Buy cheap oversize filters, in you case it is going to be big chunks of crud and sludge, not 5 microns particles, and good expensive filter for 3k miles that could be used for 15K--waste of money. If you can get oversize AutoExtra filters from RockAuto site it would be great, they are similar to WIX and usually under $2.

Yeah it is the clear, up close is all flaking away like a sun burn on skin. I cant wait to give it a tune up and change the oil, and see she runs
