Small Rant! I find it funny that after my thread on SOPA. I get a summons to jury duty for Feb 6. I was asked last April for Jury duty, now again less then a year. I wasn't picked last April. In IL I think you can be summons as much as they like in a year, if your not picked. I did my part to notify my Senate/House to my opinion to SOPA! Did I get myself in hot water? My nick has nothing to with my name but I don't hide behind a proxy. My IP would have been the same to here & my emails to Senate/House. Jeez sick

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you. Dude. Relax. Jury duty summoners (rustlers?) don't quit, it's their job. You are on THAT list.

LOL you can't bring in metal in the courthouses here! I've been in a jury back in 1992, it was quite a nice experience. Insurance case with the Judge decided for us jurors that the evidence was overwhelming against the plaintiff. We 12 just had to decide the award against the Ins. co. I'll easily go for duty. Just found it FUNNY that I got the summons yesterday!

Seriously? Do you really think that they spend their days scanning for people who voice their opinion on things like that just so they can punish them with jury duty? It's a simple coincidence. The jury duty lists are made up a few weeks in advance, long before you ranted about anything in an email.

Yes, simple coincidence. Just wanted to rant! If I was really paranoid I'd always hide behind TOR/proxies. Did look at the law for IL only the ones that serve on a Jury can be left alone (excused) for a year.

UPDATE. I was picked!!!! I'm free to talk about this as I'm done with my duty. What a boring lawsuit. 3 days of worktime wasted. All I got was $40 plus mileage @ .20. No food like I got 20 years ago, while a juror. I work for myself. So I git too suck this up! Still a fun process to go through as I've done before. Now I get a year off legally! All I got was a lame certificate for this headache. (my nick inserted)

your e-mails to the senate/house resulted in your call to jury duty. right. there's an old saying that states that intelligent people don't serve on juries. food for thought. i seldom respond to one itching about an inane topic, about which no one cares (6 replies of 277 views), but this is my morning laugh.and for that, i thank you. p.s. -- possibly, your tinfoil hat is too tight, or IT HAS A LEAK !!!!! you better get it fixed, man. again, thanks for the laugh, and have a good day.

Hmmmm. Thinking back no one was a PH'd or they didn't say. During discovery by the attorney they did sidebar w/judge on my answers. A few of the 12 jurors were surprised I was picked by my answers to those attorneys, I was too. Maybe I've don't have much upstairs that I thought I did? I guess being invited to MENSA & knowing members didn't help.

If big brother really didn't like your opinion, I don't think they'd want you helping to decide the outcome of a legal matter. Keep your eyes open for the IRS to come knocking on your door though. wink

I know a lot of people intentionally act radical and opinionated to NOT be picked as a juror. The last thing they want is the whole trial thrown out and have to be retried just because a juror is biased.

My wife was selected for jury duty and she said: I'm a school teacher at a Southern Baptist Christian school. The case was about a sexual assault on a minor, so she was one of the first to get tossed. I've been selected twice for federal cases, in which they expected me to travel 150 miles to the location (Orlando). I was in college both times so I wrote to them about missing my course work, etc. and I was excused from serving.
