I saw a gal start her newer Accord with one of those Battery Pack things.
Can you recommend one, hopefully lower priced?
I hate junk tools, but sometimes our cars sit. And we keep one about 90 miles away.
I do have jumpers at all locations, but I was pretty impressed by that gal.

Costco has this for $60. Thanks in advance!

PF has a review, maybe 2 IIRC

NOCO didn't fare so well, but **** I love their clamps

I've been ordering Audew directly from them (seems NLA on Amazon) but I can't swear they're awesome. We recently had one show nearly full charge and then show zero almost immediately. Re-charged it but haven't had time to see if it'll start a vehicle.

Cue the rabble-rabble-rabble li-ion sucks, JNC is awesome crowd (I don't necessarily agree or disagree, just tired of the argument, but it's-a-comin'):

I have a Noco GB40 ($80 or so) that I've had for four or five years. It only needs to be charged once or twice a year IIRC, and I've used it multiple times on one single charge (neighbor's car that they left for the winter with a failing battery). It takes up almost no space; I'm very happy with it.

From NOCO:
Compatibility. The product is only compatible with 12-volt lead-acid batteries only. Do not attempt to use product with any other type of battery. Jump starting other battery chemistries may result in injury, death or property damage. Contact the battery manufacturer prior to attempting to jump start the battery. Do not jump start a battery if you are unsure of the battery's specific chemistry or voltage.

Not for use if jumping a lithium battery.

Bought a couple of Schumacher Mity-Mites in early 2006 for $40 each. Gave one to my dad although that seemed to stop working because he would never bother to recharge it. Mine started fading maybe two years ago. I guess it might be possible to replace the battery but I'm not going to bother. I'm guessing I used mine at least a dozen times if not more. Sometime just offered randomly to someone in a parking lot but also when I was dealing with my wife's Civic with a bad door sensor that didn't chime with the lights off. Also at least a couple of times when I just heard someone in the office asking for a jump start. However, once I lent mine to a coworker whose husband used it, but then asked for it again when it wouldn't start. I had a 1.5A maintainer in my car and said it might work better if he just charged it overnight even if it wasn't fully charged since they weren't going on a long trip for a few weeks.

Seeing that cars don't come with lithium starting batteries, that is a moot point.
No, it’s not. Tesla, Porsche, Audi and others now use lithium batteries. The OP has a Tesla which probably has a lead acid battery, but he discuses perhaps upgrading and the new Teslas have a lithium 12V battery and flat 12v batteries in Teslas is a known issue.

I can only speak for myself. My NOCO got me going when I was stuck with a dead battery. 0-100, it's 100 for me. YMMV.

I should have stated the intended use... Just yesterday a friend (my late father's home care giver) called with a dead battery in her '19 CR-V.
I brought jumpers, but there was another car in the way. The car got moved in about 1/2 hour. Jumped her CR-V. Ended up at Costco for a battery.
Our RX450h stays at our home in Petaluma, 90 miles away. It's new, but it sits a lot. Battery was dead and car was in garage. Pulled battery outta the Tundra to jump the RX.
I help neighbors as I am the only wrench on my street.
So far the Tesla hasn't needed anything. I guess Elon thinks he can OTA anything... He's whack.

Also, I wouldn't mind leaving one in wifey's TSX. She loves that thing and they have that chump change battery.
When I saw the gal use one that day, I was pretty impressed.
Thanks!

I can see maybe having one in a tool bag. But I prefer just keeping a small 12v battery on float at home, and if/when i need it, take it and the jumper cables and go.

The capacitive ones are more compelling to me to keep everywhere. There’s zero maintenance required. Even the li-ion ones need a maintenance charge now and again.

I have the GOOLOO 400 amp jump pack. Purchased it in April 2021. I just checked it the other day and it's still at 100% charge. Time will tell how long it lasts and how good of a jump pack it is.

About 3 years ago I purchased a very small EarthX jump pack. It sat for a year and was able to start my wife's Lexus with a dead battery no problem. It has been discontinued.

Brand and Model? I am about to pull the trigger on this Audew

I have had a couple and love them. So much easier than cables or a big booster pack, just remember they are good to just start a car that is in good shape and has a weak battery. They arent for long cranking and testing things... I have been looking at/thinking about one of the batteryless capacitor types..

Seems kind of cool, uses what is left of your weak battery to charge an internal capacitor and can push out a quick jump to get the car going. The up side is you don't have to keep a battery charged like in a normal battery pack. So safe to store.

Are they garaged? If No, one of those solar trickle chargers might be a good investment esp. if you have an "always on" 12v port ie cig lighter style.
(if garaged a plug in charger with quick disconnects)

I have a Beatit which Amazon no longer sells. Have had it for 5 years and never needed to use it. Guess that's a good thing.
