The heat in my 2000 Cherokee has been so-so lately. Flushing it in the past has helped, and I know the previous owner wasn't too good with maintenance. This leads me to believe the core is plugged up again. Anyone know of a good flush to run through? I plan on just unhooking the heater hoses and flushing it back and forth with a garden hose. I saw the Prestone stuff at Autozone, wasn't sure if there is anything out there that works better.

Hello, When my sister's heater core plugged up (1988 Cherokee) I believed the major culprit was radiator leak stop. I used floor cleaner alternated with gasoline. I fit two sections of scrap hose to the heater core to control the liquids. It worked very well. I feel something strong like gasoline was needed to clear the grey putty leak stop. Perhaps something safer like paint thinner would've worked. Kira

I once plugged up the heater core in my 66 Valiant. The nipples on the core were the same size and side by side. I just flipped them. It worked fine.

I did just that with my LS400 a month ago, the result of using stop leak, it has very good heat now.

I know, we don't have real winter in So Cal, but it is nice to have some heat when temperature drops to 50's or so.
