I got the new CD/DVD combo One Man Band today as an early Christmas gift.
Just watched the DVD, it's the 2-hour concert, just JT, his guitar, and Larry Goldings playing piano/keyboards on most songs.
It was great. If you ever liked James Taylor, you must see and hear this. In later years, his guitar playing often got lost in the mix and overlooked, but in this stripped-down mode, it shines. He even strapped on a Telecaster for Steamroller, and took a solo. Who knew?
The old songs- Country Road, Fire and Rain, Carolina In My Mind-took my right back in time many years, and made me want to go back home for the first time since I moved here.
I met him after a concert in Chapel Hill very many years ago, before I was even out of high school.
Anyway, good stuff.
