I've never had any issues with ratchet jack stands. do you need a 7 ton jack stand?

I have two sets of three ton jack stands, and they work wonderfully. I'm thinking of getting another pair to use for back-up when I have all four wheels in the air if I have to go underneath. Call me crazy, but I like the though of having an extra set there to slow the car down if it were to fall.

For now when I change oil, I use my current second set as backup for the primaries. One set goes under the frame, the other the rocker panels.

Don't forget about a set of wheel chocks too. They are also cheap life insurance.
