I'm starting to use a vacuum pump for oil changes. I've always doubted the idea of such a thing but on my 84 Civic after fiddling a bit with tube placement as I was getting to the end of the flow I removed the tube. Then I removed the drain plug and let it sit for about an hour and not one drop of oil came out. Could it be that these things work?

Amazing, but true. Some things do everything that they're supposed to.

Then again, some things are like "TV Magic Cards". They work only if you know the secret.

They use these at my BMW dealership.

I can get more oil out of my bmw with a topsider than with the drain plug. It depends on the structure of your oil pan and the location of your dipstick tube whether it will work well in your car.
