Putting together a HF utility trailer, trying to wean myself away from my pickup truck which is falling apart from rust.

Went to register the thing, town clerk was very impressed that the manufacturer "took" in her computer. I get my slip, and... "CHNA"!!! (I still have my Certificate of Origin as my state doesn't title lightweight trailers.)

It looks bigger in photos because everything is an appropriate scale, except for the freakish license. I bent it down so I can lift the tongue and flip it up onto its rear bumper for wall storage without tweaking the plate, or, more likely, its bracket.

Cute trailer. Too bad it wasnt made here. What are those tires rated at speed wise? Ive seen little trailers like that bouncing down the road at 80 MPH, and have gotten FAR away...

Thats a copycat of the "Nuway" trailer I bought years ago (1995)from Rich's Department Store.I have since added metal railings and a fold down "gate" to.Good enough lightweight trailer.Have towed a stump grinder that must have weighed 500lbs just fine.

I have the 4x8' folding version of that trailer. What an awesome addition to the fleet - have used mine many, many times since I got it 2 years ago. Sometimes the half size one would be much handier, though... and cheap enough to make me think twice about buying one and swapping the plate over (not that I would actually do such an illegal thing

) Are those the 8" or 12" tires?

Looks like they took the first two letters of the manufacturer's first and second names to title it. IIRC, my Illinois title lists the full name as ours are laser printed.

Since it arrived in two cartons and needed hours of assembly, I would compare it to a Knock Down Kit, like, IIRC, New Zealand used to make "foreign" automakers supply for local assembly if they wanted in.

This thing sends and will send far less money overseas than owning a pickup and fueling it to haul air.

I have the 8" tires and one of them is egg shaped. The tongue torqued itself when I bolted it to the towbar and the little whatzamajigger that the trigger slides jammed. Had to add washers between tongue and towbar so the bolts wouldn't squeeze it so much. Also teased a few connections on the frame with my welder, "just in case" and to take some supposed rattles out. With 3/4 plywood, it's a tank.

You now turn this thing into a "Made in USA" item. Good Job.

If you're hauling anything heavy over the highway at speed, for any distance-I'd try to put bigger wheels & tires on it, 4.80x12s if they fit. Those little 8" tires don't like speed much.

I repacked the wheel bearings with valvoline synthetic grease. Will probably work better than the weird yellow goo they came with.

Trouble in paradise... One of my baby tires isn't quite round. HF sent me a return shipping label, and it's heading out FedEx tomorrow. Just had to shoot a video before it left.

You get what you pay for.

You buy a cheap china trailer, you get a cheap china trailer.

Caveat Emptor.

Would I buy one, yes I would, if I had stuff to tow around that would not fit in my sedan's trunk.

Would I use the supplied wheels/tires, NO unless I could not find them at Tractor Supply, or another store.

Also, was it flat pack, like Ikea?

No, somewhere there's an evil American corporation that has specified out-of-round tires for their trailers.

I can get the tire/wheel from walmart, VIP auto parts, probably sears, and amazon.com.

Trailer showed up in two fedex boxes. $6.99 shipping.

I added the plywood and sides.

I'm getting way more than I paid for! It's vanity (machismo?) to think I need a pickup for bimonthly dump runs. Will save big bucks in just fixed costs when I get rid of said truck, let alone maintenance.

I added Stateside value in assembly. If I bought a new truck from Dodge/Chevy/Ford a greater amount of money would go overseas for its parts content than I paid for the entire trailer, so it's the lesser of two evils.
