Im about to change mercon 3 on my manual mustang gt, I just wonder if vavoline is good brand ? I been use coastal from autozone and it s work fine.

If coastal is working for you why change? But Valvoline does mix very high quality auto lubes. I would/have used Valvoline with confidence.

Valvoline is good brand. Use it with confidence. I have used Valvoline ATF in automatic transaxles with no problem. The best thing you can do for a transmission is install correct spec fresh fluid. Brand name means a lot to some people. I like whatever is on sale. I usually use Napa ATF Mercon made by Valvoline. If you have used Coastal in the past and it is easier on the wallet and you follow the recommended intervals that will work too. I have never used Coastal so I cannot say how good it is.

I always buy whatever brand name is on sale. If the car meant whole lot to me I would use Amsoil Synthetic.

Thanks, how long can manual fluid last ? i change coastal in last 10k miles.

killagt - ATF is not the best sauce for your transmission. Light gear oils are better. Redline, Amsoil, and synchromesh fluids by GM or Pennzoil shift better and make the parts last longer.

Dino ATF is only fair/OK, and since it shears so fast, 10,000 mile changes are appropriate for best performance.
