80w90 GL4/5 is very likely to be thicker across the whole temperature range compared to Castrol syntrans mutlivehicle 75w90 GL4. That's the go to oil in our workshop for transmissions, works better than the 75w90 Universal GL4/5 we use for transfer cases and diffs.
