Vehicle is 2000 ford ranger 3.0
I just drained the antifreeze out (green) I think factory.
Just bought the vehicle used. Drained re-filled with water.
Ran the motor with heater running. Drained and re-filled with GO5
50/50 mix distilled water. Ran and drained again. Re-filled with
50/50 mix of GO5. I also drained and cleaned the over flow tank.
I feel I got most if not all the green out of the system. But if there is a bit of the green left will I be asking for trouble?

I think you have cleaned the system better than most people ever will.

The VAST majority go with a "drain the old stuff and fill with new stuff".

You will be very well off if all you are trying to do is flush out the old stuff. Are you having any trouble from the vehicle?

No problems with the truck. I took it for a 1/2 drive and rechecked the fluid (which were okay)
I am just worry about this stuff. My son is picking up the truck this weekend and heading out of state with it for a couple months, and I just want to make sure he does not have any problems.

Just take the Radiator cap off every few thousand miles and peer into the radiator to see the colour.

You should be fine though, as you flushed it really well.

It won't cause you any problems.

I wouldn't run it for 5 years/100k miles, though. But that's my opinion regarding ANY coolant.

Did you check how low its good for with a tester gauge?

I ask because: you filled it with water once. Depending on how much is left in when you drain it, you might only be at 40% or so since you refilled with 50/50. Wisconsin isn't a good place to have overly diluted coolant!

I did check it with one of those 5 ball (cheap) tester gauge.
I don't know how good they are. But it did float all the balls.

My thoughts were when my son gets back home in spring to drain and refill again. I did think that it could be a little diluted so my mix was a little less (water) than 50/50 but not much.
Thanks for comments gentlemen.:!

Well I could not leave well enough alone.
I took the truck for a about an hour drive today.
Came home and drained the fluid again. It still had a very light green color to it. I was suprised.
Refilled and ready to go now. I won't be looking at it again until he comes home. I just pray that it comes home. My last ranger was not to lucky (He totaled it out)
