Is there no Formula Shell website anymore?

Usually, I could go out to Shell's website to read up on Shell Oil products from time to time, but I see that they only have the links to Jiffy Lube, Rotella, Pennzoil and Quaker State. Does anyone know if they are redesigning the Formula Shell portion? Just curious.

I've seen the new SN, actually I put some in my uncles car. I can't see why it isn't listed. It is still available at wholesale stores in the SEast US. Ie. BJ's.

Those are the ones I was complaining about in another thread. Why are Formula Shell 5w30 specs identical to those for Formula Shell Synthetic 5w30? I'm guessing the specs listed are for the conventional. If those specs are actually for Formula Shell Synthetic, than I feel more than justified with sticking to conventional oils.

Is SOPUS going the BP route for listing "specifications" all of a sudden? Or is there a lazy tech?

Good catch. I have to wonder the same thing. I have conventional FS on hand as well. I have moved to Full Synthetic on my truck, but considering rolling back to use up this conventional I have if these are the true specs.

Well, I give SOPUS the benefit of the doubt on their product quality. I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt on screwing up their PDS, though.

I simply can't see Formula Shell Synthetic 5w30 having a pour point of -36 C, for what pour point is worth. RP's 15w40 has a pour point of around -42 C. While RP might be using some expensive base stocks, that still doesn't account for the lousy data on the Formula Shell Synthetic PDS. They simply must have copied the conventional oil data to the synthetic oil sheet. I simply cannot see a company's synthetic offering having the exact same specs as their conventional.

SOPUS needs to smarten up. If I want generic specs, I'll just refer to SAE grade specifications or, better yet, I'll buy a brand or from a company that at least attempts to publish believable numbers.

I wish I would've known this pour point information about RP 15w40. I was at a parts store a few months ago and saw an unbelievable deal on RP 15w40 and passed on it thinking that the startup viscosity was too thick for anything I own. That is good information to know as well. I also agree about the info SOPUS has posted.

Give the techs a call at SHELL , it's on the back of the bottle . Maybe with enough calls and complaints they'll get it right .

Well, I filled out a contact webmaster report, for what it's worth. In all likelihood, the tech reading it is going to wonder why anyone would possibly care, thinking that the fact that it's SN/GF-5 5w30 should be good enough for anyone who needs such a lube. He's probably right, but that's not the point.

Well, the response is in, and it's not helpful. First, the computer tech people didn't care and sent me off to someone else. Then, the response I got is as follows:

I'm not sure they get it. I replied and told him that my concern wasn't that they are both SN/GF-5. Why would that bother me? I mean, every spec is identical. Sigh.

I got the same reply over the phone with a tech . Act like they don't want to be bothered . Still going to use SHELL synthetics . Is disappointing .

Either they're really working on it, or they're good at blowing smoke up my behind. Personally, I give them the benefit of the doubt and believe it's the former. It would be nice to have things current.

Is a joke . Need to get on the ball . Pennzoil is no better , no show for the product data sheets of their oils . SOPUS , should be SLOPUS due to not making any possible corrections or updates .
