Menards has some great deals on Quaker State filters, $1.99 a pop. I've heard Purolator makes them, so are they basically a re-branded Purolator classic? If so, I'm stocking up!!!

I would buy as many as you think you will need for the life of the car at $2. When I see those type of prices on rock auto and the have 8 or 9 left, I get them all.

Nope. They use a modified version of Fram's numbering system, but they are definitely Purolator-made.
I wouldn't say they're a complete clone of the classic filter, but they're close.

Looks like they are 100% made by Purolator. When I click on the link to find the model of Quaker State filter my vehicle needs, it takes me to a specialized application guide for QS on the Pureoil.com (aka Purolator) website.
So they must be made by purolator.
Time to stock up!!!
Or... maybe the question is, should I get the NAPA Gold filters for $4.19 at my local store instead? They probably won't last twice as long...or will they? lol...

I came home with 11 filters. 3 for my Hyundai and 8 for her Toyota. They really had about 30 for the Toyota and I left one of my Hyundai's model on the shelf (for someone else, I don't want to be a mean guy).
I didn't feel like blowing $100 on filters (total for the 11 filters was around $23 with tax), plus I already have a stash of Pure One filters (about 5 for each vehicle). So we should be good on filters almost the rest of their lives.

Pennzoil filters also are Purolator made. and also Performax. At QS and Pennzoil web sites, you will be directed to Purolator's site where you'll see corresponding performax, QS, andPennzoil filter models. all the same
