I was looking up brake calipers on Parts Geek. Going over the reviews I noticed that the identical reviews were given for different brand calipers.
Especially the first two reviews. Word for word exact from supposedly verifiable purchasers.

Does not sound trustworthy.

Anyone have experience here with them?

The reviews are gathered by software-hence the duplication. If you ever searched for tires on Walmart's website-or others you see the same thing.

online reviews from anywhere in general - absolute fraud. Best to ask around here.

I ordered from them once - ball joints. They shipped from a legit wholesale warehouse in Florida - I forget the name but I tracked the address. One was perfect. One was clearly used - had been installed, lacked the retaining ring, etc.

Return wasn't hard but I still had to source another one and pay shipping twice. They didn't offer a direct replacement like RA does. I am guessing they don't want to pay freight twice.

So not on my list to order from again if I can find it somewhere else, but I would not say it was illegit.

Parts Geek had some difficult to find parts at good prices for us. The inventory is "variable" so we needed to check from time to time. Some of the "reviews" just seem generic but if they are specific to the part/car and negative, you should pay attention I suppose.

Overall, we had no issues.

I have purchased from PartsGeek five times in the past couple of years, specifically for hard to find items like Sankei 555 steering and suspension parts. Never had any problems getting the parts in a timely manner. Each order arrived quicker than any of my purchases through Rockauto. While their website looks like something from the 90's, their operation seems to be legit. I like that they show how many of a specific item is currently available in stock for immediate shipping.

@Carmudgeon - I lived the picture you are using for your account, the burning bus. Did this happen to you too? (It was a hard, sad day.)

Fortunately, no. My closest association with a bus, was with a cherry two-tone T2 camper that would probably fetch a nice sum of BaT today, and a T3 Westfailia I cracked the windshield on being a kid doing stupid things.

Review ms can be useful but one has to learn which ones to pay attention. For the most part I avoid the 5 star “everything is perfect because it was packaged nicely” or 1 star “it’s the worst product ever because it arrived one day late” type of reviews.

2, 3 and 4 star reviews seem to be the most useful in my experience.
