Went to a close chrysler jeep dealer last week, and bought 2 'jugs' of mopar coolant( my car is a 95 neon so keeping it dealer orinetated).
Now, i know ive read chryslers green coolant is low silica. The only other chyrsler approved coolant with the msdds number approved, is Zerex. Prestone, peak, autozone the others do not have chryslers 'number' listed...so wondered whats so special about moapr coolant, and/or who makes it? might be better to run in my neon than a brand that donst spec chryslers coolant specs*

Chrysler's G-05 is orange (red?)-not sure who makes their green. What Mopar spec coolant do you have? MS-9769 is the G-05/5 year/150K formula, I would stick with low-silicate green in pre-'01 Chrysler gas engines, Zerex is the biggest name, although Pride & some other companies also make it. BTW, I have Prestone All Makes/Models mixed in w/regular green in my Sierra, hasn't hurt it any.

I just lookeda t the cotainer..its MS 7170. I wondered what makes mopar coolant ( green stuff) different form other brand names, or is it literally re packaged prestone/zerex/peak..ect ect.

If I had to guess, its probably made by Old World Industries (parent company of Peak). They seem to make the vast majority of private-label antifreezes. AFAIK there's nothing at all special about MS7170 Mopar coolant- its just a conventional silicate/glycol inorganic additive technology (IAT) coolant- the good old stuff. I ran the old-style silicone/silicate Prestone in my wife's 93 Mopar for many years then changed to NAPA generic green IAT (made by Old World) rather than use Prestone's 2-EHA containing Dex-Clone "all makes all models" formula when they brought it out. I refuse to put 2 EHA in anything that wasn't specifically made for it.

My Jeep originally had the old-school Mopar green in it. I gave it a thorough flushing and put G-05 in about a month ago. All seems well, and newer Mopars use G-05 anyway, so it should be fine.

My '66 440 has been running G-05 for >4 years now. No issues at all, the visible internals looked great when I put in a cooler thermostat and electric fan setup last spring.
