Is it possible...

I guess there are not enough interested members to make such a project possible. At least if we could have to lab info then the speculation about GIII in M1 would end. Is the lack of interest because not enough people use M1?

I think theres probably a lack of interest because people trust Tom's results. We didn't know much about GC, thats why there was probably so much demand for an analysis.

*Not to mention, GeorgeCLS is already having another test performed.

I think most people have a bad taste in their mouth over M1 so doubt they'd want to shell out money to have M1 tested. Even if the results came back saying what we want to hear, we would not know if the formulation changed at any later time. I think the trust is gone for most people. I'm glad that the assumption that M1 would not use Group 3 has been shattered. I always found it to be wishful thinking.

One problem is that Mobil 1 has a different formula for every grade. You would have to get people to agree on and analyze a single grade. Then by the time the results were in, the formula would probably change. I think as the price/availability of ingredients fluctuate so does the formula.

The diehards that had the German Castrol analyzed even had this problem, the formula has changed (gold vs. green).

So, there are not enough people to spread the cost around? It would be interesting to find out what's in, say, Mobil 1 5w30 because that has to be the most popular viscosity in the US.
