If you decide to get the Castrol GTX HM, don't forget about the mail in rebate if you buy 5 quarts.

$5 rebate on 5 quarts....two rebate limit per household. Make sure that if you buy 2 Jugs, get a separate receipt for each jug and mail in each receipt with the rebate form in a separate envelope.

So with the $5 rebate on a jug of Castrol High Mileage, it will put it in the Quaker State Conventional ballpark. $18.50 - $5.00 = $13.50

Castrol makes great oils but their prices are out of whack. When you can buy Napa Synthetic for $3.38 when it's on sale, why should I pay $4 a quart for Castrol GTX? I would use it for the right price. Advance Auto sells it for $5.29 a quart

My brother in-law like Castrol. He uses GTX in some cars and Syntec for some others. His house is near Walmart, he go there to buy Castrol whenever he needs to change oil.

It sure dosen't make much sense when you consider NAPA and Formula Shell Full Synthetic oils now on sale.

You can pick up a case of 6 Quarts of Formula Shell, Full Synthetic, 5W-20 or 5w30, API-SN, GF-5 at Bee Jays Warehouse for $17.99. Thats only $3.00 a quart for full synthetic, loaded with Moly, Formula Shell.

DANG!!wish i had a BJs warehouse

Well, a real world example is my co-workers 4.2L F150, V6. He uses 20W-50 GTX and nothing else. 235,000 miles later, I pulled his valve cover to take a look. Perfectly clean. His truck runs perfectly, consumes no oil and I fully expect he will continue to drive it for many, many years.

Of course, he changes at 2500 mile intervals.

I like Castrol GTX a lot, I ran it a few times in my ex wife's Honda and it showed some impressive numbers in the used oil analysis. And it always seems to be on sale up here at Walmart too, a short while ago they had 5L jugs for $10.88 (a lot better than the $25 price I recently saw for the 5L jug at Canadian Tire!!)

Haha, I don't even look at CT anymore. That place is just way too expensive for oils etc.

GTX is the OCD of oils.
Nothing wrong with it, I have some in my stash, but unless you can get a deal on it, it's nothing special for the price.

Last time I looked on the pds I'm pretty sure it said advanced durability is a blend

I dont understand why GTX or any Castrol product is so expensive. With all the competition priced lower and being a lot more popular how does Castrol stay competitive in the DIY market? Pennzoil conventional obviously owns the dino market and M1 owns the syn. Castrol needs to lower their price or go away because their wasting shelf space at walmarts with their product that isnt selling. Super Tech syn or GTX for a little extra... what would you rather have?
