Looks to pick up some budget 225/60r16 tires and back in the day the Arizonan was pretty well regarded. Are these still a go-to or do we have better options in this price range now?
I think that's a Discount Tire brand made by Cooper. A friend is satisfied with his.
They are fine, but wear fast. I'd only use them on a beater or basic transportation. Usually can get much better tires for just slightly more.
On my Sienna minivan, these 65K Arizonians gave me 22,400 miles before needing to be replaced. On a 98 Civic, I put 40,000 miles on a set of Arizonians. And that Civic got a lot of freeway driving, too, which should have prolonged the life of the tire.
My experience is that the Sentury from Discount Tire were not worth the low cost and I would never purchase them again. They wear quickly, not coming close to any mileage estimate and they also wear uneven. As someone said above, I found paying a few dollars more got me a MUCH better tire.
I have a set of Arizonia's on the front of my daughters car now and they are "OK". They will not come close to their mileage estimate but at least they are wearing even across the treads. Nevertheless, I'd probably go to the Wal-mart Goodyear Reliant if I was trying to not spend enough for a better tire. I think better tires, near the same price points, will come from brands like General, Uniroyal, and Cooper - all I have used and would use again.
I'm surprised that you haven't run across any of the posts regarding Sienna tire pressure, specifically, the Sienna being too heavy for Toyota's recommended tire pressure. Don't follow Toyota's 35psi recommendation, put your tires up to 40-42psi and you should double your tire wear. Ask me how I know. There is no real downside to doing this other than a slightly firmer ride. Tire wear, grip, handling, and braking are all improved.Too late to edit. The fact that the Arizonians only got me 1/3 of the warrantied mileage on my Sienna doesn't by itself mean that it is a cruddy tire. I only got 20-25K on Cooper CS5 Grand Touring set, which had an 80K mile warranty. My minivan plows through tires.
