'00 Ford Explorer XLT V8, Just hitting 60k, had it flushed @ 30k.

If flushes are fine, I plan on dropping the pan and changing the filter @ 90k.

Any potential problems w/ this plan?

Probably not. On my older '96 Vic, I had a flush done with Mercon V at 75k miles, then a pan drop, new filter at 128k miles. if your explorer has not been abused, then a 2nd flush with MV now and a pan drop/filter change at 90k should work well.

Does this vehicle have the 4r70w trans?

If so, I would drop and clean the pan, replace the filter, and drain the torque converter (I think '00 models were last to have drain plugs in the TQ).

I did this method on a '96 Vic, and drained 11.5 out of 14 qts.

"Does this vehicle have the 4r70w trans?"

Yeah it does. But I think I'll wait till 90k.

The fluid @ 58k is still cherry red.

I just did a transmission flush, which is considered my 5th drain/fill, drain/refill x3 prior in a 4 week span. The procedure was to drain the fluid via removing drain bolt. approxiamtely 3 quarts has been removed and the remainder of the fluid in 6.4 qt. capacity auto transmission. Replace drain bolt with new washer, and open fill hole with a large funnel, add 3 qts of new fluid plus 2 more to over fill and disconnect the return line , attached that end to a container. Start engine, watch fluid level, calculate how much is removed.Repeat process while adding fluid till the fluid that is transferred to the container turns red. After that is confirmed, add fluid to bring it up level.I added the SF-Z1 made for Honda plus I installed a Magnefine filter and MMAAAAAAAAN, BIG DIFFERENCE,smoooth shifting and hopefully it has enhanced friction modifiers and detergency to keep things clean. Would it be alright to add SX-UP to the transmission fluid? Molakule or Terry , help me out. Thanks
