Iranian Made 30-06 Ammo

I highly doubt it was just imported from Iran, so buying it is not going to support the current loons running that country. If it was made in 68 it's probably been in this country, in storage, for decades--probably imported during the Shah's reign in the 70s.

Was the Iran government that evil in 1968? I can't remember that far back.

I might buy some. 30-06 is so expensive around here. And, the people of Iran don't bother me. Only the leaders in Iran do!

It depends what you mean by 'evil'. But their revolution was in 1978. Since we have not had any relations with them since then, I highly doubt that we have imported ammunition from them since then.

This could be stuff we bought from them prior to 1978 or stuff seized in Iraq (although highly doubtful) since the invasion.

I had a Sergeant in the Army that trained the Iranian tank crews on the M60A1 Patton in the '70s.

Honestly, it depends who you are....

That's it in a nutshell.

This stuff was probably imported to the US from Turkey.
Almost nobody fields the 30-06 anymore so someone in Turkey stumbled upon it and called their people who called their people who put it on a boat to the USA and the money is spent and done. Now the owners are selling it to us at a markup.

You aren't doing business with Iran. As just about ANY business from the US to Iran is HIGHLY ILLEGAL. And what business that is done is surrounded by LARGE amounts of RED TAPE.
Ammo and weapon sales to or from IRAN are banned by the UN, however this is probably a sale with Turkey, Korea, or some other country who got our surplus when we switched over to the .308 Win/7.62x51 and 5.56.

They were a somewhat evil, but for the average Iranian they were far less evil than the current crop. I read today that the Iranian regime has executed 57 people so far this year (and that's the number their government is admitting to). That's like a person executed every eight hours since new year's day.

Different flavors of evil in Iran. It's not a question of more or less evil, but what flavor of evil is in vogue today vs 1968.

just cuz the shah of iran back then was in bed with us, it does not mean that he was no evil.

Anyone remember Idi Amin Dada? he was a great ally of US, you gots to luv our foreign policy.

If its at a good price then pick it up. Whats more important? Your problem with where it comes from or being able to shoot your 30-06 on the weekend?

Idi Amin was not an ally of the U.S., he and Uganda were clients of the Soviet Union. Amin was one of the worse of the worse (and probably certifiably crazy) but he wasn't allied with the U.S. in any way.

Certainly we've backed some bad guys in the past, and the Sha was one of them, but the Sha and his secret police were an order of magnitude more benign than the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Ahmadinejad, and the Mullahs.

Didn't mean to turn this towards politics, but I hate to see inaccurate history left standing.
