Does anyone have any experience using Interstate batteries, including Deep Cycle and car/truck batteries?

I always look at if the battery sells and isn't left on the shelf, time wise the battery tend to be fresh. Interstate is what we purchase and it's a good battery. It's one of the better brands and have had no problems with it.

Interstate is a good brand. We have the two biggest battery manufacturers worldwide in the Reading area. Exide and Deka. I can't remember off hand which makes Interstate ..but it is the better of the two. They're a top end replacement battery.

I now have an Interstate Megatron(Johnson Controls) MTP-91 in my Passat installed last Dec (prev was a Moll oem that lasted 4yrs). This is the batt model of choice for Euro cars. It's rated at 700CCA/875CA..it has so much amp juice than the oem that when you crank start the engine you thought the 1.8T has a diesel starter.

Here's a link of links of all battery brands/manufacturers from A-Z worldwide. You'd be surprised that your loyal fave brand..is actually made by one or several manufacturers. For instance, Interstate batteries(of mostly Johnson Controls..) depending on the model are usually made by Yuasa, Bulldog, Optima, US Battery among others.

I wouldn't have anything else. I have a 6V in my 47 Ford 2N tractor that has been in there for 7 years now. Still cranks the old 6V over just fine even in below 0 temps. Since it's in a tractor, it's surprising how long it has lasted.

Now all my vehicles have Interstate batteries in them.

I had an interstate battery for 5 years (I sold it with the truck) and it did a fine job on cold mornings. No problems at all. Also had good luck with Deka and ACDelco batteries. The original ACDelco in my 1988 S-10 lasted over 8 years.

I've had very good luck with Interstate batteries over the years. And suprisingly the factory Motorcraft batteries. Though my wife's 2002 Explorer had a bad battery that totally died in about a week

. The replacement Motorcraft battery the dealer put in is going on it's 4th winter and still starts immediately even on sub zero mornings.

We've had an Interstate Megatron 'police special ?' in a Taurus for almost 7 years now, and it's still doing fine. It's a high amp model, 875 CCAs or something, and although some of those were reputed to be less durable dure to more and thinner plates it didn't seem to be an issue. I do pay attention to water levels, keep the terminals clean, and did clean the vent caps once as they were plugged.

Yep, one reason I went for a Megatron is that it isn't a sealed unit and thus you can add distilled H20 in..same for the prev oem German Moll battery.

My experiences w/ maintainance free/sealed batts in my former rides were costly and a PITA.

Interstate batteries are awesome! All my cars have interstate batteries in them. I just recently bought a new interstate megatron plus for my 1996 taurus. It is a group 36R and is rated at 650 cca it was expensive $98

but it is worth it!

That price ain't bad. Interstates usually go for a little less than $100.

Mine is a vented Grp 48. I shopped around calling for like 10 dealers...and got one(same month minted)for $85 no core trade/outta door from a small Vietnamese run auto shop..even though the Los Angeles Interstate HQ is less than a mile from me..and is selling me for that same price, $98 + tax.

p.s. Battery was sold to me w/o vent tube(overlooked). I then passed by Interstate HQ, showing the new batt I just picked up..and gave me two

vent tubes. I also found out that they sell remanufactured Optima red top batts for $40.

Anyone have expierence with "Deka" batteries that Gary A mentioned above? I noticed that our fleet at work uses them exclusively unless there's some emergency then they call a local parts store. The Deka ones we use are sealed

maintenance free deals and I noticed they are all high on the ca/cca scale.

I have had one of the Mega-Tron Plus MTP-40R in my car for over a year. Has dealt well with two winters, including a fair amount of -15F days.

Something to keep in mind is that house brand and even no so house brand batteries change sources just like oil filters. The lists of who does what to who are still a lot better than nothing.

At one time Sears Diehards were sourced from different manufacturers depending on what part of the country you were in. Saved shipping costs.
