Interflug IL-62 Lands In Field

It almost looked like the pilots initiated a go-around departure (nose pitched up during roll-out), but aborted it after realizing the spoilers were deployed, and then pivoted to plan B. . . I don't know if spoilers auto-deploy on that jet or not. Soviet jets were rugged, if not technologically advanced!

The whole "stunt" was actually very well thought through, planned and deliberately concerted - and NOT Russian!
As the video is in German and apparently nobody who watched the clip cared enough to take 2 minutes and google if there wasn't anything in English language which would explain what is depicted in the clip, I feel compelled to add at least a little info for anybody who still has the patience and interest to read up on what actually happened. So just for clarification / information or just for the sake of anybody's curiosity .....

The plane was Russian, not the stunt. Chill.

The IL-62 has a very poor track record and consumed may lives due to soviet-era manufacturing/maintenance practices. Museum is the only place these things belong to, alas, I think they're still in operation in some parts of the world.
Only Rada air cargo and Air Coryo still use them from what I've found. The Rada one's are IL-62 Mgr which are retrofitted for cargo.

That would be two more carriers than currently use the VC-10.
Not even the RAF flies any VC-10 variant these days.

It was in East Germany and the only way to bring an airplane to a museum was to land it on the field.
Compliments of Russian engineered undercarriage.
Yeah we know all that. The questions were the wisdom of the decision to do it, and whether the pilots almost met disaster here.
